Bill Roberts is an 80-year-old cowboy living in Florida. This book is a collection of stories about what cow hunting in Florida was like when Bill Roberts started his career at 13 years of age. He worked with cattle in 25 counties over a period of 35 years. The book also contains reproductions of Bill Robert's original oil paintings depicting life with horses and cattle in the 1950's.

About the Author
All I Ever Wanted To Be Was A Cowboy, by Bill Roberts is a nice, easy, sit-by-the fire read. Imagine yourself sitting with others around a campfire listening to a long, tall, grizzled old-timer telling stories of his youth.
Local author Roberts is more than a writer. He is a story-teller par excellence, and far beyond that, he is an artist. His luscious paintings of horses, cows and dogs are featured in the book, and although the pictures here are in black and white, one can see the movement he instills in his art, making the reader long to see the ones he did in living color. Many of his paintings hang in private homes in the area, but they should be featured in a gallery somewhere nearby, open to the public. The stories are about dogs and cows, hogs and horses, back roads and swamps, prairies and ponds. And they are about men and boys who want more than anything else to be cowboys. There's no need to say anything more than that. They must be read to be appreciated.
Each chapter stands alone, and I recommend reading only one or two chapters at a time- the way you'd get your grandpa to tell you a story now and then. That's the best way. Let 'em settle in.
