About the Author

American mathematician EDWARD VERMILYE HUNTINGTON (1874-1952) served in executive positions for the Mathematical Association of America, which he helped found, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He also wrote Four Place Tables of Logarithms and Trigonometric Functions (1907), Handbook of Mathematics for Engineers (1918), and Fundamental Propositions of Algebra (1941).
