Synopsis
Spellbinder is the story of Ruth Rakestraw. As a young girl, Ruth became the object of an abusive father and a lifestyle that left her with little hope of survival. During this time she witnessed the murder of her baby sister, Mary Ellen. Even though she was too young to really understand death, she did know that she would have to be very careful in order to avoid the same fate. That's when the mulitple personalities began to form. One after the other they developed to keep both Ruth's mind and her body safe. Spellbinder, one of her personalities, was there to keep her memories safe. But Spellbinder also had another job. To know when to release those memories so that Ruth could begin to heal. Spellbinder is a riveting story from the first page to the last. It's horrific to read, yet impossible to put down. From her days growing up in the swamplands of Florida, to her home in Arkansas where she began to write her story, Ruth has remembered all. Writing became theraputic, and after years of therapy, Ruth was introduced, one-by-one, to all the people who had lived inside her in order to keep her safe and alive. There were many. Now there is one. Her name is Ruth Rakestraw.

About the Author
Ruth Rakestraw lives in Northwest Arkansas with her husband, three children and five grandchildren. She has been writing for more than twenty years, is an active member of the Northwest Arkansas Writers writing group, a member of the Oklahoma Writers Federation INC, and the Ozark Creative Writers. Winner of the Creme de la Creme Award for her novel Bitter Hill which is now availbe in bookstores, Ruth is also the winner of doznes of other writing awards and is working on both a fiction novel and a non-fiction book.
