Author Geta Grama’s passion for fabrics, color and patterns is contagious! You’ll be captivated by the elegance and grace of these intricate-looking shadow trapunto quilts—especially once you discover how simple they are to make. The book features 30 projects (postcards, pillows, tablerunners, and wallhanging quilts) with wholecloth, pieced, or appliqué backgrounds, and a variety of shapes, squares, circles, hexagons, octagons, and 12-sided (dodecagon). Patterns to enlarge are given in the book and full-size patterns are on the CD.

Geta Grama's crafting journey started in 2000, when she discovered quilting, absolutely by chance, on the Internet. Seduced by the new world of combining fabrics, colors, and patterns, she abandoned her engineering profession and all other passions and devoted her time entirely to quilting. She lives in Romania with her husband, Mircea, who always encourages her to follow her passion. Her family members are her biggest fans. Though it is not easy to quilt in a country where the word quilt is unknown to most people, she could not imagine her life without quilting. For her free tutorials and quilting ideas, visit her website (www.RomanianQuiltStudio.com) and her blog (cadouri-din-inima.blogspot.com).
Achieve old-world style with this innovative technique, which combines the expertise of trapunto with shadow quilting, giving you two for the price of one. For those not familiar with trapunto, it is a very old technique whereby you 'stuff' areas of your work to give it greater loft or relief. There are 5 layers to the projects in this book as opposed to the normal three in standard quilting. The layers from top to bottom are organza, trapunto motifs made from batting, background fabric, batting and backing and the white design of the quilt top is made from the organza and trapunto motifs placed on the familiar quilt sandwich. This is a fascinating read and the starter projects are small enough for anyone to give the technique a try. Try something new today as Jamie Oliver would say!
