Summer Solutions 5th Grade Reading Comprehension is for students entering 6th grade. Without ongoing practice, literacy skills lag over the summer break. However, students can bridge the summer learning gap with 5th Grade Reading Comprehension. All educational standards require children leaving Grade 5 to accurately quote a text to support inferences gleaned from a story, identify two or more main ideas of a text, discuss the relationship between individuals and/or events in a text, and develop grade-appropriate vocabulary. Using the summer workbook, students complete 30 lessons of mixed review over a 10-week period, and this ongoing practice ensures retention of literacy skills and concepts covered in fifth grade. Additional skills in the workbook include predicting outcomes, reading more complex passages, using context clues to develop vocabulary, sequencing story events, and recognizing an author's purpose. By completing just one lesson three days a week, students enter sixth grade ready to begin learning new material right away.
