About the Author
Jack DeBoer understands business. Entrepreneurship. Building something new. He is recognized worldwide as a founder of the extended-stay hotel concept, now with more than rooms. He launched four hotel brands: Residence Inn, Summerfield Suites, Candlewood Suites and Value Place. He sold the first three hotel chains to Marriott, Hyatt and InterContinental Hotels respectively. He then trail-blazed a short-term apartment concept with his founding of Value Place. It continues to enjoy rapid expansion with 175 locations of January 2011. At age 80, DeBoer sets a pace many half his age couldn t manage. From his home in Wichita, Kansas the Air Capital of the World DeBoer has always relied on corporate aircraft. In fact, he holds the 3-kilometer world speed record for jet aircraft under 18,000 pounds. Today, it takes a fleet of aircraft to keep up with him and his management team. In 1988, DeBoer undertook a round-the-world journey in his Gulfstream II. The goal: to assess needs firsthand. This transformational experience led him to lend major support to World Vision, the recipient of all proceeds generated by the sale of this book.
