She grew up watching her grandmother and mother making quilts and other craft projects. The quilting bug didn't hit until 2001, and then it was quite by accident. She asked for a sewing machine for her birthday with the intention of making dresses for her pre-school daughter. She quickly found out that she did not have the skills to make clothes, so she decided to try making a quilt. It was a small Irish chain quilt. Her grandmother quilted it for her on her mid-arm quilting machine.
In 2008, she had bought some fabric and could not find a pattern she liked to go with it, so she sat down and designed a quilt. Now, she is a quilt designer and has been published in numerous magazines.
