GM's LT1/LT4 engines represented the highest level of small-block V-8 develop-ment for the period between the legendary small-block Chevrolet and the introduction of the LS-series V-8. They powered all of the hottest production vehicles of the 1990s, including the Corvette, Camaro/Firebird, and Caprice/Impala SS. These enhanced small-blocks were reliable and strong, and can be built to impressive performance levels on a relatively small budget, with the right upgrades.
This book guides you through the factory and aftermarket components of the LT1/LT4 engines, offering sound performance advice and recommendations. Additionally, complete engine buildup recipes are provided, along with their respective horsepower and torque levels. You can follow the advice of experts and achieve targeted results for your own project.

Myron Cottrell pioneered the use of the LT1/LT4 engines in many forms of racing. His personal racing ventures in the SCCA Production classes were successful, as were his many customers' experiences with LT1/LT4-powered drag cars and street machines. There are few engine builders in the country with more LT1/LT4 experience than Cottrell, and the broad range of his talents and knowledge of these fine engines shines through on every page.
Eric McClellan, M.A., LMFT, is a freelance automotive journalist with an eclectic range of gearhead-based interests. He holds a masters degree and works as a psychotherapist. Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Eric now lives in Hugo, Minnesota, with his wife and family. Eric enjoys everything automotive and tries to get as much seat time as possible. He's currently building a first-generation Camaro in the Pro-Touring style for both street and track use.
"You can benefit greatly from having this book at your fingertips. The day I received it at the office, I used it to answer one of our members' questions. Don't let this book slip by. Myron has been working on this book for years and it was worth the years of waiting--Great job, Myron." (Mike Caruso engine professional 2013-02-08)
