Matt Avery is a veteran automotive journalist, photographer and historian. After working as a repair technician for Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Matt wrote for the television show, MotorWeek, before joining the Cars.com editorial team as Senior Video Producer.
Matt currently works for Mecum Auctions as the Executive Producer and host of the On the Move podcast.
Matt's work has been seen in Hot Rod and Muscle Car Review as well as his column in the widely read Classic Recollections feature in the Chicago-based Daily Herald. Matt's career includes time on the board for the Midwest Automotive Media Association, serving as Vice President.
His book, COPO, showcases over 45 world-class collector vehicles processed through GM's Central Office. Matt's expansive library of over 400 images, captured specifically for the book, has a permanent home in the archives at the General Motors Heritage Center.
In 2019, COPO, was awarded a Silver Medal by the Automotive Heritage Awards. In 2020, he made SEMA's '35 Under 35' List, recognizing rising young stars in the automotive industry. In 2021 he joined SEMA's Young Executive Network (YEN).
