About the Author

During a hiatus from a thirty year career in architecture and the construction industry, author Michael DiPinto discovered his love for storytelling and writing. With this book in production, he has begun work on another children's book, as well as a non-fiction book of his grandfather's world travels and a screenplay. He is an alumnus of Roger Williams University in Rhode Island and has returned to the architecture profession. Michael just recently moved to Bradenton, Florida from Collinsville, Connecticut.

From the Inside Flap

This book is dedicated to my children Aaron and Nicole, who at a very young age would ask me every night at bed time, "read me a book and then tell me a story, daddy." I loved telling stories to you both, this is one of the stories I would tell over and over again to the two of you.

This story came about when we were on one of our family vacations out to the Cape, South Yarmouth, Massachusetts.

This particular vacation, Grandma and Grandpa were with us as well. It was another beautiful day at the beach Aaron was body surfing, while Nicole was doing what she does best playing in the sand. Nicole drew two mermaids and placed shells all around them, using sea weed for their hair. Nicole asked me how the shells got up on the beach. Well that just set my mind reeling and I came up with this story that night.

I know this has taken a number of years to prefect, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have in writing it. I also hope you enjoy reading it to your kids someday and think back to when I would just tell you stories at bed time.

Thank you for being who you are, without the two of you this would have never come about.
