Synopsis

Pieter Jan Lemstra graduated from Groningen University in 1975, working under the supervision of Professors G. Challa and A.J. Pennings, and was post doctoral fellow at Bristol University in 1975 to 1976 under the supervision of the late Professor Andrew Keller. He joined DSM Research in The Netherlands in 1976 and worked on several explorative topics, including the initial development, with Paul Smith, of superstrong polyethylene fiber, now well known as Dyneema fibers. In 1985, he was appointed as full professor at Eindhoven University of Technology with a chair in poymer technology. Dr. Lemstra was president of the European Polymer Federation (EPF) from 1999 to 2002 and founder of the Internet journal, e-polymers. In 2004, he founded the company PTG-Eindhoven BV (www.ptgeindhoven.nl). He has also been appointed visiting professor at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai (PRC) and London University (QMUL).

Liubov P. Myasnikova graduated from Leningrad Polytechnical Institute, faculty of radiophysics, and earned a PhD at Ioffe Physical Technical Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, Department of Fracture Physics. She currently works at this world renowned institute as the senior scientist, where a main field of study is the structure/property relationships in polymers (mechanical, thermodynamic and electrical a.o.). She is a member of the editorial advisory board of the International Journal of Polymeric Materials.
