The result is a sophisticated, artistic collection that is true to its origins and different from much of the fusible appliqué projects that commonly appear in books. Iznik pottery was originally inspired by Chinese porcelain, highly prized by Ottomon sultans during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. This book takes you on a pictoral history of early Iznik tile designs found in Topkapi Palace and Rustem Pasha Mosque in Turkey. The photography of antique Turkish tiles is wonderful. The projects are done in a variety of colorways that can be adapted to any color taste profile.
