Here children can see a plate of cookies with a distinct spiral pattern. In the pages that follow, the basic text repeats, and children can identify, for example, stripes on a sweater and polka dots on wrapping paper. The crisp and colorful photographs provide excellent context clues, though adult assistance may be needed, as the patterns are not identified.
