Alvin Baron has had a distinguished career in education. Beginning in New York City in an elementary school in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, he later taught English and language arts at Whitelaw Reid Junior High School and Lafayette High School in Brooklyn. After teaching for many years, he was appointed to the position of assistant principal of McKinley Junior HIgh School and later principal of P.S. 274, a large inner city elementary school.
He continued his career in school administration as principal of the suburban Lawrence Junior High School in Long Island, New York, and later assumed the leadership of the Lawrence High School. He was selected as Superintendent of the Lawrence Public Schools which he led for many years before appointments as superintendent in Franklin Square and Port Washington.
Dr. Baron was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree from New York University. He has taught at New York University, City University of New York, and and Hofstra University.
His love of teaching inspired him to begin writing books that would encourage students to love language and excel in their own writing. His books have been published in many editions, each surpassing the last in popularity. He now devotes full time to writing and helping students with research projects.
Dr. Baron believes the Internet will surpass the printing press in its impact on world civilization and he continuously updates his books to include the latest advances in using this amazing tool to help scholars find and use information.
