Chapter 4 deals with aircraft dynamics and decoupled equations for longitudinal and lateral motion, and it introduces the concept of stability derivatives. Chapter 5 discusses design of stability augmentation systems and autopilots. Chapter 6 discusses aircraft response and methods of closed-loop control of aircraft, while Chapters 7 and 8 discuss problems of inertial coupling, aircraft spin, and high angle of attack. The third edition features updates throughout along with a new chapter 9 on stability, control issues, and challenges of unmanned aerial vehicles.

About the Author

Bandu N. Pamadi is a senior aerospace engineer at NASA Langley Research Center. He was a German academic exchange fellow at the University of Stuttgart from 1973-1975 and an NRC-NASA Research Associate at NASA Langley from 1981-1983. Before returning to NASA Langley in 1986, he was a professor of aeronautical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He holds degrees from Karnatak University, the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
