When will we get there? Can I have just five more minutes? This entry in the Measuring Mania series will help readers better understand the meaning of such questions by teaching them a methodical approach to telling time. Reinke emphasizes scientific vocabulary, such as unit, and includes math problems to help compute the passage of time. She urges students to create diagrams (although some of the ones that show elapsing time can be confusing). The explanatory text can be a bit dry but does set up some wonderful projects. For example, one involves creating a memory game to match daily activities with when they are completed, while another involves building and manipulating a clock face. Telling time may be a mundane daily activity, but this injects it with a little zip. Grades 2-4. --Miriam Aronin
