How to make Icing Roses

Learning to make icing roses is simple only if you know the real secrets the pros use. So, how DO the pros make beautiful Buttercream Icing Roses? The most popular methods for making icing flowers are with Royal icing, Buttercream icing and gumpaste. Making roses from icing is a craft which requires practice and patience. Once you have the right tips and tools, your success will depend on your ability to manipulate the icing bag and nozzle. Have patience with yourself while you master the different decorating techniques!

1. First few things you will need are icing tips #12 and #104, and icing bags for both tips. To make roses you have to remember that you need stiff consistency icing.
2. At this point, you need the skinny end of the tip (#104) towards your knuckles. If it's not, just give the tip a little twist.
3. The most important part in making a rose is the base. Using your flower nail and tip (#12), push down and squeeze out enough icing to make your base.
