Games of Passion
The mysterious painting tore at Alison Carlyle's heart. A canvas layered with emotion—and fraught with madness—it was the work of a man who obviously lived life on the edge. To Alison, the artist’s view of the world was dangerously provocative...and utterly irresistible.
Games of Love
Returning to his hometown in Colorado, Lake McGregor was shocked to see his painting in the window of Alison’s gallery. But when he met this captivating—and persuasive—woman face-to-face, he agreed to display the greatest works of his past...and to hide his deepest, darkest secrets.
Games of Death
Alison was intrigued by the haunted, hunted look in Lake's eyes. And she swore she'd help him bury the scandal that had destroyed his childhood. But the harder she tried to unlock his troubled soul, the deeper she fell—into a web of lies... into a maze of murder... and into a world of... Dangerous Games.

Justine Davis (Dare) was born during a snowstorm in Iowa but raised in sunny California. She began working right out of school. She worked in law enforcement which she found exciting and never, ever boring. She didn't think seriously about writing for several years. She sold her first novel in 1989. She spent the next two years selling nineteen more books. She has won the coveted RWA RITA Award four times, and has been inducted into the RWA Hall of Fame. Her books have appeared on national best-seller lists, including USA Today. Reading, music and photography are few of the pursuits she follows in her free time. Another favorite hobby is cruising around in her restored 1967 Corvette, with the top down, of course.
A good romantic thriller requires a dark hero who lives on the edge. Dare's follow-up to Dangerous Ground brings back Lake McGregor, an angst-ridden assassin working for W.O.L.F., a Mission: Impossible-style organization in which he's known as "the best, coldest killer that ever walked." While tracking a rogue agent who has killed several organization colleagues, Lake is called back to his hometown for his dad's funeral. Folks there still scorn him for accidentally killing his younger brother years beforeAeveryone but stunning art gallery owner Alison Carlyle, who is fascinated by Lake's passionate yet disturbing paintings. She has a message from his father that she hopes will free him from the guilt he's carried all these years, but the more she tries to help McGregor rid himself of past demons, the farther she is drawn into the dangerous labyrinth of his secrets. While the plot is scarcely unique, with a particularly unoriginal villain, Dare has a knack for romance and spins an engrossing tale. (June)
