"It's an honor to be the inspiration for 'Ace' and to be included in a book that reminds young hockey players to play safe. 'Drop the Puck, Shoot for the Cup' captures the spirit of the sport on and off the ice while inviting its readers to share in the passion for the great game of hockey." --Jack Jablonski, Former Benilde-St. Margaret's High School Player "'Drop the Puck, Shoot for the Cup' is a great book with a very important message for kids everywhere -- Everyone deserves the chance to play hockey, no matter what their capability." -- Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals Captain and ASHA Mentor "I'm giving 'Drop the Puck, Shoot for the Cup' Five Stars. This book builds off Book 1 further teaching sportsmanship and the importance of respecting those with special needs, all wrapped around a great storyline in the game we love." --Dave Hakstol, Philadelphia Flyers Head Coach "'Drop the Puck, Shoot for the Cup' is a story that really resonates with my upbringing in the great family of hockey. Growing up and playing hockey with boys taught me resiliency and compassion for others and treating all individuals with respect no matter their disabilities. This story illustrates to readers that lessons learned in sports, like sportsmanship, respect for others, and teamwork are lessons learned for life." -- Jocelyn Lamoureux, 2010 Olympic Silver Medalist for Women’s Ice Hockey Team USA "My family and I love this heartwarming tale. It's good for the soul and good for the game—we all love." --Jordan Leopold, Minnesota Wild Defenseman "The Official Adventures Series books are terrific heart-warming stories that celebrate hockey, family and children with special needs! Our family loves these hockey tales that teach life lessons and encourages everyone to treat others with respect." -- Brudget and Matt Cullen, Pittsburgh Penguins Center "This is a very worthwhile read that contains life lessons beyond the rink. It's a great pickup and I especially appreciate that it includes Blaine, a special needs character." — Mike Hickey, President, American Special Hockey Association "'Drop the Puck, Shoot for the Cup' is a great read for hockey players, like me. It gives such a good perspective on what it's like to be a young hockey player from Minnesota. And, I love all the characters, especially Lukey!" — Luke Delzer, Pee Wee Hockey Player, Rogers Youth Hockey Association "I'm honored to play a small role supporting the life lessons taught in 'Drop the Puck, Shoot for the Cup'. The real story is about Blaine, who is truly a special person to be cherished in the game of life. I hope everyone who reads the book loves it as much as I did. And remember, girls rule and boys drool!" —Avery Hakstol, Youth Hockey Player
Jayne J. Jones Beehler proudly wears many ''helmets'' including college professor, lawyer, author, wife, mother, advocate for children with disabilities, and lifelong fan of student athletics. A graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, this former live-in nanny is passionate about children, education, foster care and adoption, and child abuse/prevention public policy. Jones Beehler worked for US Senator Norm Coleman from 2002-2006, then headed to the MN House of Representatives, as Executive Assistant to Speaker of the House, Steve Sviggum.
Katrina G. Dohm, raised in rural northwest Wisconsin, believes home is where you hang your skates/rollerblades and keep your paint and brushes! Dohm's love of hockey began in college at the University of North Dakota, where she graduated with a BFA in Visual Arts and a BS in Education. For the past twenty-two years, Dohm has dedicated herself to being an art teacher and all the ''extras'' that go with it. Her days are filled with hands-on activities and non-stop action, evidenced by her dust covered boots, paint splattered apron, and wedding ring plastered with clay. Dohm is a four-year breast cancer survivor and takes her late father's reasoning to tremendous heart. As they watched early Hurricane Katrina coverage together, he told his daughter, ''This will be huge, because Katrina never does anything halfway!'' He was right on both counts. And true to his words, his daughter is ready to drop the puck and start a new adventure!
