About the Author

President Russell M. Nelson was sustained and set apart as the seventeenth president and prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 14, 2018. Prior to his service as head of the Church, President Nelson served as president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He has served as a member of that quorum since April 7, 1984. An internationally renowned surgeon and medical researcher, President Nelson’s professional work included the positions of research professor of surgery and director of the thoracic surgery residency at the University of Utah, as well as chairman of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.
