Synopsis

Much of civilization is destroyed by a major seismic cataclysm, leaving crews working on the moon with no way to communicate with their earthbound partners and advisers. Who knows if they're even still alive? The lunar crews had been working on the construction and support of a great Spacecraft called the Alacritess, moored at the Multi-National Space Station. The ship had been intended to travel onward to Mars, but budget shortfalls scrubbed that mission years ago. The Alacritess had been therefore given a new mission - simply to bring everyone home, back to Earth. But the ship is unproven and untested. Alterations and refitting efforts had been completed for an intended return through Earth's much thicker atmosphere, but this effort would be risky at best, even with help and guidance from mission control. It could be that the Alacritess is mankind's best chance at preserving or rekindling civilization on Earth. But getting back home safely will require a miracle.
