"Volunteering for the Homeless examines different volunteer opportunities and how to get involved"--
"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
Gr 3-7-This series focuses on volunteer opportunities in a variety of settings that help social justice causes. The books begin by conceptualizing the experiences of young volunteers as they go about a volunteer shift. Readers learn about the benefits of volunteering and the different activities volunteers do. The layout of the books is a mix of easily read large-text chapters with more highlighted informational text blocks. These books are longer than most of the series reviewed here, but the size of the text makes the reading experience feel shorter. The back matter includes a glossary, source notes, a further research section, a list of related organizations, and an index. VERDICT This series is a nice exploration of volunteer opportunities for students looking for a gentle way to get involved in social justice issues.α(c) Copyright 2011.
