Layla S. Mayboudi holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with a thermofluids specialization from Queen's University (Canada). Her research areas include heat transfer modelling and validation, thermal management, thermal imaging, flow optimization, and process improvement. She also has industrial experience and training in operations research, process improvement (Black Belt Lean Six Sigma certified), and mechanical test management. Dr. Mayboudi has published books, journal articles, and conference papers, and has several years of experience in education, aerospace, and rail transportation industries where she initiated and completed numerous projects resulting in improved capabilities (efficiency and effectiveness).
Fins have been used historically as reliable design features for thermal management, which continues to be an important problem in engineering today. This book develops heat transfer models for progressively complex fin designs. Mathematicians, engineers, and analysts may equally benefit from the content as t provides the reader with numerical and analytical tools to approach general and thermal management heat transfer problems. the main focus is on the COMSOL Multiphysics Heat Transfer module; however, the fundamentals may be applied to other commercial packages such as ANSYS and Abaqus FEA. The content can be utilized in a variety of engineering disciplines, including mechanical, biomedical, chemical, civil, and electrical.
