Da Nang in 1968 was the focal point of all American Air Forces in Vietnam. It was home to the 366th F4 gunfighter wing. That year it was also home to my Father, Reuben. Nothing about this place made sense to him, then or now. Writing daily eased his mind and he hoped others especially his family could understand what it was like. It was the start of the Tet Offensive and his only two jobs were to make sure the aircraft were ready to fly and he got home alive. His story, this story is about the day to day hardship of being in a war zone, about the constant attacks from the North Vietnamese, and the real day to day operations of a combat flight line.
