Synopsis

The Power of the Zip and this companion workbook give you the tools to change yourself, and also to trigger change in others. Topics covered include: Repairing Relationships, Creating a Coaching Culture, Cultivating Self-Awareness, Listening Effectively, Asking the Perfect Question, Giving Effective Feedback, Building Teams, Handling Hot Topics, Holding Accountability Conversations, Facilitating Meetings, Apologizing the Right Way, Developing a Leadership Edge, Managing Stress, and a review - When to Zip It: A Checklist But, who needs to change? All of us. Why? Culture, communities, families, organizations, individuals, and all relationships are constantly evolving. But our human nature makes us resistant to change. Fear and uncertainty can cripple us in the face of change, but the right tools, self-awareness, and inspired coaching can help us through the change process so that we can thrive. What is the goal of change? These are some of the most important: maturity, healthy relationships, and the ability to grow throughout one’s lifetime. The definition of personal and professional health is the ability to be “fully present in the present,” and to be logical, self-aware, spiritually alive, capable of transformation, and willing to change, both personally and professionally when necessary. These traits are also present in those who have the greatest maturity. Individuals and groups that want maturity and emotional health for themselves and their organizations view change with expectation, wonder and curiosity. They want to thrive in the midst of change, and want to inspire others to do the same. It is up to each of us to reinvent our lives, for our own sakes and for those we live with, work with, and interact with. Coping with change is not a solo activity. The Power of the Zip (POZ) and this workbook help you navigate the messy dynamics of culture, communities, families, organizations, and relationships. If we don’t change, the noise of the crowd will deafen us, turning us into either combatants or recluses. If we don’t embrace change, the pressures of change around us make us fearful, so that we run from others and from change. When we resist change, we miss the opportunities that we encounter everyday to learn and grow, to become more than we ever thought possible. Remember, the reward for deciding to work toward maturity and emotional health is a life filled with expectation and wonder, in a world that is brimming with opportunities. It is up to each of us, individually, to reinvent ourselves and our leadership, not just for our own personal gratification but to help others do the same. Strategies for Living Unlimited is your transformational change agent, ready to help you navigate the murky waters of change for your good, for your health, for your maturity and for your relationships.

About the Author

The result of having worked in 7 career fields has equipped Jill Kamp Melton to trigger change in others. A communications consultant, trainer and course designer, an author, a college professor, a professional actress, a public relations director, a talk show host and TV feature personality, are some of my areas of expertise. And yet, my greatest calling is to help others communicate more effectively, listen more fully, and achieve a maturity and professionalism that eludes them. I have explored this in my work, as a wife, mother, and grandmother and there is not greater thrill than helping others achieve potential they never knew they had.
