About the Author:

Jim McGlothlin is a retired U.S. Public Health Service Officer, and Professor Emeritus, Purdue University. He grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, has traveled the world, and now resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his wife, Nancy. They have two married daughters, Malia and Jaime, and four grandchildren: Lachlan, Lorelei, Grant, and Anna. Jim enjoys international travel, chess, origami, triathlons, kayaking, and reading. One of Jim’s favorite things to do is go on nature hikes with his Oru kayak on his back, and set upon the in clean, clear water of Lake Superior at Pictured Rocks. Once there he likes to paddle to many of the isolated coves and beaches to watch the “flutterbys” sip the last sweet nectar of late summer’s flowers.
