About the Author:
Elaine Sands a former Senior Law Enforcement Officer of the Bahamas Police Force and certified Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Trainer. Since 2000, she spearheaded a number of initiatives throughout the Bahamas to minimize family violence. In 2013 she served on the National Task Force for Gender Based Violence. Her impact is documented through her advocacy efforts and she has received several awards including the Living Legend Award from Zonta Club Of New Providence, the R. M. Bailey High School Hall of Fame for Humanitarian & Service in Law Enforcement and Awards for Meritorious Service, Good Conduct and Long Service from the Bahamas Government. She received her training locally and abroad (Bahamas, England, United States and Jamaica).
