The Ballet of the Apocalypse - idea & book 15 years after he started with the often-awarded epic internet project “The Ballet of the Apocalypse”, author Erwin Rybin now publishes this opus finally as a book. Based on his earlier works of the series “virtual artworks”, in this project ballet, presented in virtual stage photography, will be simulated. The biblical Apocalypse was chosen as this story is widely known and suited for emotional dance scenes. The open-Air stage “Teatro Moderno” in Sicily serves as virtual performing place, because the entire idea and many pictures originated in Capo d’Orlando. The year 2028 was chosen for the general rehearsal and performance time. The stage measures approximately 20x20m and consists of cubes up to 1 cubic meters each, which glow from the inside and also reflect the scene. In the background, an appropriate evening sky can be seen. The Ballet of the Apocalypse consists of 16 scenes in two acts: The first act begins with God’s appearance, reports about the annihilation of large segments of mankind of plagues sent by God. The Devil also appears in the first act. The second act shows Babylon’s seduction, her destruction by God, the final confrontation between the powers of heaven and hell. The second act finishes with the appearance of the new Jerusalem and Eternal Peace. All “goods” are represented by women and all “evil” by men. This is just for dramatic and aesthetic reasons and should be understood as allegory, not provocation. There are two versions of every picture. One is the 3D only and another is with African art objects of the Kreyenburg Collection. These will be published in a different book. Each scene consists of 3 pictures, which connects the dance to the relevant chapter of the Apocalypse - from different viewpoints. The music which inspired each can be found at the end of the book. After the 16 scenes, the Latin, Italian and German bible texts can be found, along with images of the giant triptych which the author created from the pictures of the scenes - one appears on the cover.
