Synopsis

A savior has come to Res Mysticum, but no one knows who it is. Doran Kane wants to be the savior, but it would help if he first knew what kind of world he lives in. Savior or not, he will soon have to figure it out. He can no longer live in comfortable ignorance in the City of Axbridge now that Rael Dagon, the cruel dictator from the City of Simbrimetus, is after him. The problem is, the world outside of Axbridge is full of magic and monsters, and it is every bit as dangerous as the city he must escape. As Doran flees into the fantastical world beyond Axbridge, his analytical mind struggles to accept the aberrations that greet him. After all, vampires are not supposed to exist, and monks may do many strange things, but Doran would have never expected them to control the elements with their minds. Will Doran find safety amid the wild dangers of Res Mysticum, or must he remain forever a pilgrim in a treacherous and uncertain world?

About the Author

K.R. Queen is a a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law, and he practices law in Huntsville, Alabama.

His deepest literary and philosophical influences include C.S. Lewis, George MacDonald, N.T. Wright, Alvin Plantinga, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Jane Austen.

He loves the books that shatter and reform his worldview. He also loves tea, chess, runner's high (not so much the running itself), nature walks, Johann Sebastian Bach, and a random array of film scores and video game soundtracks.

He has three children and one wife. He and his wife love to geek out on Skyrim and Harry Potter, and he loves listening to her play the brilliant music she sneaks off and writes when the kids aren't looking. The kids love to team up on their parents, and they can usually get a movie or some ice cream out of mom and dad if they play their cards right.

K.R. Queen writes for one simple purpose: to awaken his readers' imaginations to the wild and beautiful countries of the mind and heart that the Lord has given us to explore. He knows firsthand that even a brief foray into those countries often leaves a person eager to become what they were meant to be, which always makes the world a better place.
