He can change diapers, cook, fix equipment, milk cows, and discovers his vocation as a physical therapist. Both experience tragic teen-age losses, navigate family tragedies, and come to peace with who they are individually as gay men, and eventually together. This book shows how normal comes wrapped in different packages, yet inside each package, people are the same, whether able-bodied, disabled, black, white, brown, green or LGBTQ+.

About the Author

Face Your Fears is Bill’s first novel. He is working on a second novel, The Rooming House Diaries: Life, Love & Secrets at 4822 South Justine Street, which includes the early lives and secrets of Nate’s mother and grandmother, plus an extended cast of other characters who resided at the rooming house. Bill won the 2015 Wisconsin Writer’s Association Jade Ring contest for nonfiction. He is published in Jonathon with Sibling Rivalry Press; the Writers Write section of The Sun; and won awards in several local writers’ groups contests. He began writing after he retired from careers in YMCA camping and child welfare. Bill and his partner reside in Beloit, Wisconsin.
