About the Author

Mike Canino, B.S. in marine biology, seeks to share his knowledge and passion for nymphing with the fly fishing community and is confident that his unique approach will help you be a more successful angler. Mike is a New England fisheries biologist and resident of Upstate New York near the Catskill Mountains where you can find him experimenting with and refining new trout nymphing techniques on the Beaverkill or West Branch Delaware rivers. His formal research of trout and salmon for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Alaska Department of Fish and Game has led to a concrete understanding of trout behavior and its relationship to angling. Mike's fifteen years of experience targeting trout across the Northeastern and Western U.S., New Zealand, and Scotland, allowed him to develop and perfect universal nymphing tactics and approaches that fly fishers can use anywhere.
