About the Author

Steven J. Koprince, the Managing Partner of Koprince Law LLC, is a government contracts attorney whose practice is dedicated to helping businesses successfully navigate the federal marketplace. In addition to providing government contractors with guidance on complying with the Federal Acquisition Regulation and other key government contracts rules, Steven prepares compliant teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, subcontracts, mentor-protégé agreements, ethics codes, organizational conflict of interest mitigation plans, and other documents contractors may need to ensure that their compliance "t"s are crossed and "i"s dotted. And, when push comes to shove in the competitive government contracting arena, Steven files and defends GAO bid protests, SBA size protests and SBA size appeals with the SBA Office of Hearings and Appeals, and assists contractors with requests for equitable adjustment, claims, and appeals. Steven is a regular speaker and author on the FAR, the SBA affiliation rules, and other legal matters important to small government contractors. He has spoken at industry and professional events across the country, from Washington, DC to Seattle, and many places in between. Steven has published a number of articles on government contracting, which have appeared in leading legal and industry publications, such as Contract Management, Public Contract Law Journal, The Federal Lawyer, Set-Aside Alert, and The Procurement Lawyer. Steven also serves as an editor of The Procurement Lawyer, the official publication of the American Bar Association's Public Contract Law Section. Steven is also the publisher of SmallGovCon (smallgovcon.com), where he has authored nearly 1,000 articles on government contracting issues. In 2016, Steven was honored as a "Friend of APTAC" by the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, a nationwide procurement assistance organization sponsored by the Department of Defense and local colleges and universities. Before law school, Steven served as a legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives. When he is not practicing law, Steven enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, cheering on his beloved Chicago Cubs and Duke Blue Devils, and plotting blockbuster trades in his fantasy football leagues.
