The King James Fran�aise was born out of a great burden to have a French translation of the Bible that was true to the Authorized King James Version, the Bible recognized by millions of people as being the pure word of God without error for the English-speaking world. This translation was initiated in France in 1995 by Nadine L. Stratford, after she was told by her French pastor that the word “hell” was not in the French Bible. After searching through the available French versions, it became evident that her pastor was right! Using several books in English that proved the superiority of the King James Bible over all modern English Bibles by showing their many omissions, outrageous changes, and discrepancies, she began comparing the various French versions with the King James Bible. She quickly discovered that these same omissions, outrageous changes, and discrepancies were also found in all of the French versions as well! The corruptions found in the French versions, as in all the modern English versions of the Bible, give rise to all sorts of controversies and errors, even to the denying of fundamental Christian doctrines such as salvation by grace through faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the deity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, the infallibility of the Bible, the Trinity, and the omission of the word “blood” in dozens of verses, just to mention a few. In 1996, after learning that a new revision of the Ostervald Bible had been printed and was being promoted as the King James Bible in French, she immediately went to the printer in the U.S.A. and got the first copies available. She then began a thorough and critical reading of the new Ostervald 1996, comparing every verse with the Martin 1855, the Segond 1910 and the King James Bible. Right away N. Stratford realized that the Martin 1855 and the Ostervald 1996 were very far from the rendering of the King James Bible, though closer to it than the Segond 1910 and all the other modern versions. For her own personal use, she began a correction/revision of the Ostervald 1996 and began to post it anonymously on several websites. It drew the immediate attention of Christians who were grateful to be able to read the King James Bible in French. It also drew the attention of certain men who plagiarized her entire work, and incorporated it into French translations of their own making. However, she was encouraged to continue her work by many notable people who took an interest in the translation. In 2011, she began the complete overhaul of the translation, using the King James Bible rather than the Ostervald as her primary source, working verse by verse, and word for word, trying as best as possible, to retain the consistency and the unique punctuation found only in the King James Bible. It was also important to her to retain the “biblical” vocabulary peculiar to the King James Bible. Certain words such as Holy Ghost, heaven, unto, Godhead, fellowship, etc. are very difficult to translate into French. It was paramount therefore to find adequate French words that would be equivalent to the exalted vocabulary of the King James Bible. It was equally important to use those words with consistency throughout the translation, which is something nonexistent in the other French versions.N. Stratford has also utilized other scholars, translators and proofreaders around the world to insure that this translation is the best that it could be.
