Synopsis

Brother and sister, James and Mandy, are off to summer camp. Their German shepherd, Rosco, is joining them for a week of archery, canoeing, swimming, and campfires. But while seven-year-old Mandy struggles with homesickness, ten-year-old James must deal with a prank-playing bunk mate, and Rosco finds trouble with the resident hound at camp.

During an unexpected thunderstorm in a game of capture-the-flag, the troublemaker finds himself lost, alone and injured deep inside the forest. Rosco must play the hero and save the boy, but not before he and James teach him a hard-earned lesson about friendship.

Rosco the Rascal Goes to Camp by Shana Gorian is a beautiful story of friendship which revolvesaround Rosco, a two-year-old German Shepherd who goes to a summersleep-away-camp for the first time with James and his sister Mandy. Theyoung campers have to adjust to the new surroundings and also have toovercome their fear as they are away from their comfort zone for thefirst time. At the camp, they meet different kinds of children and alsogo through many adventures which make the kids experience new thingsthat remove their fears and also help them to overcome obstacles intheir lives. It also shows the heroic behavior of Rosco who helps Jamesand Mandy. It's a story of trust; it's a story of friendship, andchildren will be entertained till the very end.

The adventuresthe kids experience at the camp are tangible and relateable, making thestory enjoyable. It's an excellent bedtime story book. It can also beused for interactive sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Roscois lovable and all kids will want to have a companion like Rosco by thetime they finish reading this book. The book is also informative andchildren get to know what happens at a summer camp and the variousactivities that take place when they are at a camp.
