Synopsis

Anyone who was invested in stocks in 2008 experienced a loss of at least a third of their portfolio—for some, even more. What if I told you another 2008-type event could be on the horizon? And what if I told you that there might be a way to explain—even track and predict—these huge stock market crashes? Few people have studied economics from a hands-on perspective. Most economists are just PhD theorists with no experience managing money. As a hands-on money manager, I could not accept the notion that market crashes are natural occurrences that must simply be endured. As I searched for a logical explanation, I discovered the Austrian School of Economics, which provided explanations that seemed to correlate exactly with what I was witnessing firsthand. Eventually, by exploring these PhDs’ economic theories, particularly the Austrian School, I was able to discern key elements from which I derived a hands-on approach to managing money. This approach saved my clients millions during both the dot.com bust in 2000 and the 2008 Great Recession. I have tried to put my methods into brief, understandable terms to help investors survive (even thrive) in the coming market bubble collapse. Finally, economics is no longer esoteric and nebulous, but useful in a real-world way to anyone who reads this book.

About the Author

Kevin founded Magellan Planning Group in 2003 to address the lack of coordination among and between the three major disciplines: Legal, Financial, and Tax.  He realized that rarely, if ever, do clients' advisors meet or even communicate directly on behalf of their client. There was a clear need for tri-disciplinary, coordinated planning. He brought financial planning, tax planning and estate planning together under one roof to maximize coordination among the disciplines for the benefit of his clients and their families.  
      Kevin has given countless financial and estate planning seminars since his career began in 1994, in northern Metro Atlanta.He has been published in both local and national publications and is a regular speaker for both individuals and professional organizations.  Kevin has hosted "The Magellan Planning Hour"radio show and taught at Emory University's Evenings at Emory.  He also is a regular instructor for the Georgia Society of CPAs.
Kevin graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta with a double B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science.  He earned a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from Georgia State University College of Law with a focus on estate planning and trust law.Additionally, he has earned the designations of Certified Financial Planner (CFP®),Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).
Kevin's favorite professional activity is designing and creating charitable trusts, which allow a taxpayer to dispose of highly appreciated property without the associated tax burdens.  Kevin helps citizens minimize their taxes,maximize their dependable income, and give back to their community and the things that mean the most to them.
