Kat is very passionate about animals and believes every animal deserves a loving home. She enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering as a pet therapy handler. Kat lives in Bismarck, ND with her husband, son, and two dogs. Pickles The Dog books were inspired by a real dog named Pickles. Pickles was a dog rescued from a flood. She had been adopted and returned to a shelter several times and things were not looking so well for her. Kat's mother-in-law decided to adopted Pickles and helped her learn and adjust to a new home. We are so grateful she did because Pickles is such a sweet girl who is happy to meet everyone! Kat loves to give back to her community in many ways, but her favorite way is by donating a small portion of the sales from her book and her baby boutique Kat's Socks (katssocks.com) to animal shelters.

The Illustrations are wonderful and I am a definitely sucker for books about adopting pets! And, to top it off, the stuffed animal version of Pickles is the best! So cute and soft. I took this book to school and read it to my kindergarten class. They are the real critics here. Well, they loved it! They have asked me to read it a few more times since then, too. My daughter Emaleigh and I recently received this book Pickles The Dog, Adopted. It came with a super cute stuffed animal which just happens to be Pickles. Your child can snuggle with their own Pickle the dog stuff animal as you or them read the story. Emaleigh began to read the story before bed time one night. The story is about a dog named Pickles who was adopted from an animal shelter. She was taken back a few times because she didn t match the family who had took on her responsibility of having her with them. That s when she caught the attention of the family who eventually gave her the forever home she was needing. She went home to live on a farm. Pickles loves her new family and gets introduced to everything new around her. Now since she didn t know how to act on the farm at first Pickles gets into a bit of trouble. She does some naughty things. Soon her own teaches her how to respect the farm. My daughter said her thoughts about the book is: It s a good story for just about any time to read with your child. Pickles the dog just wanted to fit in and be home where she felt safe. Once she found her family and felt safe with them she got to show her playful side. Pickles didn t realize she was doing naughty things. Once she taught how to act she was a great dog even with the other animals on the farm. This book hit close to home for me because my boyfriend worked in an animal shelter and even was animal control for years. I have heard many stories of dogs coming in and out of the animal shelter. The animals just want love and acceptance. I m very vocal about if you want an animal go visit your local shelter it s always some amazing ones there.
