Author, Wendy Jo Bradshaw - more aptly described by her pen name Wild West Wendy Jo - is a feisty, red-headed, cowboy-boot wearing treasure hunter. She enjoys singing, storytelling, and writing songs and

books. Her favorite kind of treasure quests are for treasures that are greater than gold, found in the Treasure Chest of Life (TCL).

Wendy Jo loves teaching kids how to search for TCL treasures and solutions to problems like bullying and peer pressure. Her dream is to help kids find the power of their voice, and to feel good about themselves no matter what others say and do. Wendy Jo s motto is: Helping Kids See, They Are a Treasured VIP.

Wendy Jo has won awards as a singer, songwriter, and illustrator. She lives in Utah, very near to her children and grandchildren, with her spouse and two little Dachshunds named Annie Oakley and Jackpot.

A wonderful book with a very powerful and important lesson for kids about bullying! I really enjoyed reading this beautifully illustrated book about confidence, embracing your uniqueness, and how to deal with bullying. It teaches children the importance of not just standing up for yourself but for other kids as well who are being bullied. The message is about speaking up for yourself and others, and never staying silent when being mistreated. I love how this story is made into a fun adventure that middle-grade children will enjoy reading. The characters are wonderful with their own unique personalities and values. This book also teaches children about the importance of kindness and friendship, which should always be treasured. --Lindsay DeRollo

A Big Yee-Haw Story! I loved the western backdrop of this story. Being a Texan, I m partial to a red headed girl named, Wild West Wendy Jo, who is also The Singing Cowgirl. Sadly, our cowgirl is struggling with bullies and doesn t want to go back to school. But don t worry, the loveable Vippi Mouse comes to the rescue. Vippi Mouse comes out of the TV to help Wendy Jo learn how to handle bullies. And it s not only about how to stand up for yourself, but stepping in to help others, and doing the right thing. I really enjoyed the part where Wendy Jo learns about her inner compass. This is essential in today s world with what our children are exposed to. The author successfully portrayed this through entertaining dialogue and captivating pictures. A wonderful semi-chapter book that would be a great addition to a teacher s library on the subject of respect and being kind to one another. --Coralin Grace

A wonderful early chapter book with a great message! Every young child should read this book. It teaches children how to stand up for themselves and fight against bullying! I absolutely love the different adventures that Vippi Mouse and Wendy Jo go on. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and the unique western plot go hand in hand! My daughter absolutely love the idea of a singing cowgirl and she is following the footsteps of Wendy Jo ever since she has read this book. I would highly recommend this early chapter book to read for any children age 6-8 yr old. --Napur Biswal
