This collection of essays by Lord Serious and Saint Sincere are a brief introduction to the Black Nationalist philosophy and programs of Umoja Nation, Inc.
After dealing with the effects of more than 50 years of pursuing an integrationist path, the two men are of the opinion that integration is not going to liberate the minds, bodies and souls of Black people. Liberation will only rise out of a Nationalist agenda that can organize Black economic, political and cultural power around a coordinated program of institution building. Lord Serious explains this well in his essay "The Need For Nationalism."
For the last ten years Saint Sincere and Lord Serious have been working to honor their ancestors and advance the fight for Black liberation from White Supremacy. Using Dr. Frances Cress Welsing's definition of White Supremacy as a guide, the two men began to devise creative modern methods for defeating the system of White Supremacy in every area of people activity. Umoja Nation's programs are extensions of these methods.
Umoja Nation is established to facilitate cooperation among the various groups, movements, organizations, businesses and individual efforts existing within the Black people of the United States and all over the planet Earth.
Our aims include (but are not limited to):
--the establishment of an independent political party;
--the establishment of an independent educational system;
--the acquisition of land and property to be used for national development;
--the abolition of the prison-industrial complex; and
--the implementation of a strategic economic plan to utilize Black dollars to solve Black problems.
We believe that these aims will be best reached by achieving NATIONAL CONSCIOUSNESS, COMMUNITY CONTROL and PEACE among our people. These, subsequently, will be developed by utilizing the Nguzo Saba (Seven Principles) of Unity, Self-Determination, Cooperative Economics, Collective Work and Responsibility, Purpose, Creativity, and Faith as our foundation and guide.
