Reviews

PreS-Gr 2-This "field guide" offers opposing pairs, such as sporty/lazy dads, handy/clumsy dads, and more. The book is an import from Australia, and some terms ("smart" meaning "stylish") and illustrations ("rugby" instead of "football") don't translate well for American readers. These men are dads in name only, as they are not shown engaging in any parenting activities. Two dads are shown on toilets. Their differences are all in appearance. The cartoon illustrations are adequate. This book is without substance or charm. Stick with Todd Parr's The Daddy Book (Little, Brown, 2002), an example of how easy it is to offer parental interaction in a simple survey of fathers.-Heidi Estrin, Congregation B'nai Israel, Boca Raton, FLα(c) Copyright 2013.
