About the Author

Isobelle Carmody began the first of her highly acclaimed Obernewtyn Chronicles while she was still at high school, and worked on it while completing a Bachelor of Arts, and then a journalism cadetship. The series, and her short stories, have established her at the forefront of fantasy writing in Australia. She is now the award-winning author of several novels and many short stories for children and adults. Isobelle divides her time between her home on the Great Ocean Road in Australia and her travels abroad.

This gently paced fantasy, second in the Little Fur series, recounts the quest of the half-troll, half-elf Little Fur and her various animal companions as they journey to the city of Underth, a troll stronghold. While battling evil along the way, Little Fur, known for her healing skills, attempts to cure the fox Sorrow, one of her fellow travelers, who has been wounded in body and spirit. While the authors narration captures the heartache of the wanderers, Carmodys pronounced Australian accent can be difficult as she occasionally lowers her volume and drops the ending of words. Her characters personalities are distinct, however, and listeners should easily adjust as the story is poetic and engaging.
