Aimed at crafters of all abilities, this beautiful book shows you how to make a variety of decorative and practical items using the wet felting technique.
Starting with a thorough techniques section including clear step-by-step photographs and instructions, author Lisa Marie Olsen takes you through techniques such as flat felting, using a 'resist', creating patterns on flat felted pieces and working round a 3D mold.
She then shows you how to make 12 lovely projects including matching mother and baby slippers, a handbag, a tea cosy, a shadow frame and a teapot. Lisa's work is strongly influenced by her love of vintage style and classic fairy tales, hence the title of the book Felt Wonderland perfectly sums up the style of this book. She also includes other techniques such as needle felting, hand stitching, embroidery and applique to further embellish the projects. The projects can be followed exactly but also provide you with the inspiration to let your creativity loose and customize them to your own style.

Wool felt is a textural fiber medium that can be manipulated into flat or three-dimensional shapes. Olsonfocuses here on wet felting, which transforms raw wool fleece into cloth using water, soap, and agitation. As it becomes cloth, it can be handled to form flat pieces that will be recognizable as felt fabric, or intoother shapes that can be used as embellishments. A short section also describes needle (also known as dry)felting, which uses barbed needles to tangle the fibers of several pieces of wool fleece, combining theminto one solid piece of felt. Included are 12 projects inspired by Alice in Wonderland and the feel of thatfantasy world. Some are purely decorative, such as a felted teapot and teacups, while most are alsoutilitarian, including a pincushion, egg cozies, a handbag, slippers, and more. An overview of thetechniques and materials is illustrated with clear photographs, as are the projects, which include step-bystepdirections and materials lists. A large sheet of templates is folded and tucked into a back pocket.— Anne Heidemann
