About the Author
Sandra Horley has been Chief Executive of Refuge for over 20 years, and was awarded the OBE for services to the protection of women and children. Born in Ontario, Canada, she started working with abused and homeless women in Wolverhampton. She is involved in the training of police, health, housing and social workers and has advised high-profile TV and radio shows on their storylines, including Eastenders and The Archers.
