Customize your Android system with the power of embedded programming
If you are a Java programmer who wants to customize, build, and deploy your own Android version using embedded programming, then this book is for you. Prior java experience required.
Take a deep dive into the Android build system and its customization with Learning Embedded Android Programming, written to help you master the steep learning curve of working with embedded Android. Start by exploring the basics of Android OS, discover Google's "repo" system, and discover how to retrieve AOSP source code. You'll then find out to set up the build environment and the first AOSP system. Next, learn how to customize the boot sequence with a new animation, and use an Android "kitchen" to "cook" your custom ROM. By the end of the book, you'll be able to build customized Android open source projects by developing your own set of features.

Ivan Morgillo was just a kid with a C64 and some basic skills during the initials years of his engineering. After working on embedded systems for a few years, he moved to Android and worked as a consultant for international clients all over the world. In 2015, he published RxJava Essentials, Packt Publishing, and jumped back to the Android core level for a new adventure. He is currently running a mobile and embedded applications development company, Alter Ego Solutions, contributing to open source projects, and still working on weekend projects. Stefano Viola grew up with a huge passion for embedded systems and open source. He studied Engineering and after that, his hobby became his profession. He has worked as an embedded systems consultant for international customers since then. In 2010, he created DroniX, an optimized Android custom ROM with thousands of users all over the world.
