About the Author

Dr John Young has served as President and CEO of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) in Winnipeg since August 2015. Since opening in 2014, the CMHR has built an international reputation for accessibility and human rights discourse, and is recognized as a global leader in human rights education. Before accepting his post at the CMHR, Dr Young was Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), where he also served as Dean of the College of Arts, Social and Health Sciences, Interim Provost and Vice President Academic. He has been a visiting professor in the United States and Japan and has lived and worked in Germany and Russia. He has also worked with the Canadian Parliamentary Centre and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
