Welcome to another adventure of Corky Tails: Tales of a Tailless Dog Named Sagebrush. At the heart of this enchanting story is a Welsh Corgi who talks and has far more sense of environmental awareness than many people. In Sagebrush and the Warm Spring Discovery, award-winning author Joni Franks takes us to a forest where Young Miss and Sagebrush encounter the Shuns. The Shuns are enchanted little people of the forest. The Pine Tree Brothers, Needle and Knotty, are searching for a home. In this fifth book in the series, the canine title character and Young Miss discover a secret warm spring hidden in the depths of the Rocky Mountains and stumble upon the Pine Tree Brothers. Trouble ensues when a homeless man who claims to own the forest selfishly drives the two siblings away and threatens to desecrate the lush greenery of the mountain by felling the trees.

Joni Franks’ residence in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, her appreciation for nature’s grandeur, and her love for her Welsh Corgi are largely instrumental in the creation of this tale. Franks illuminates the special connection that trees and forests play in the circle of life and discusses ecological threats. With Young Miss and Sagebrush being environmental advocates and champions for the Pine Tree Brothers, a considerable amount of diplomatic persuasion is needed to sway Mr. Logger to have a change of heart.
