This book provides themed acrostic puzzles for all ages. For the book lover, the acrostic is the best type of puzzle. This book concentrates on two types of puzzles: monolithic acrostics and hidden-theme acrostics. Monolithic acrostics use a uniform method of providing the clues, such as a fill-in-the-blank where the missing words are part of the title of a famous song. We can achieve a very high percentage of theme answers in monolithic acrostics. Hidden-theme acrostics use a theme that is not evident from the clues. The reader has to determine the theme by obtaining answers and noting what they have in common. Most acrostics puzzles are based on quotations from books, but we have made an effort to include different sources, such as speeches, songs, poems, jokes, and even a Supreme Court opinion. The solution to each puzzle is accompanied by a description of the source and a short paean to its virtues. In this book there are twenty-five hidden-theme acrostics, ten monolithic acrostics, five children's acrostics, and five foreign language acrostics (three in Spanish, one in French, and one in Latin).
