Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Poetry is something I started writing years ago, however, life took over! With three children, a fulltime job and a husband who worked different shifts, I was unable to continue. The Long Goodbye is a poem about dementia and my husband John who sadly died in August 2022. I wrote the poem after his death. John was a great musician and when he could no longer play, I went back to having piano lessons in order to play to him. Having moved to Cornwall, and having a new piano teacher, Mark Searle, I suddenly found the first line automatically translated into music in my head, so I wrote it down. Having started I decided to try and write more. When Mark came for my piano lesson, he spotted the pad of manuscript paper, and I showed him what I had done. He liked the beginning and told me when I had finished it and made a fair copy, he would put it onto a computer programme that would provide a printed copy - easier to read than my handwritten version! I have to say a big thank you to Mark for his help and encouragement. Intermission Youth Theatre is a charity which helps young people from 16-24 who are struggling. They are reached through drama, especially Shakespeare. Many have gone on to study at university and have entered the industry. The Arts are for everyone, never feel you are not qualified, don't have the ability. Pick up a pen, sit at a piano, pick up a guitar or a paintbrush, Anything creative can be a real release for feelings, just have a go!
