AUTHOR: Simon Elliott is an archaeologist and historian completing a PhD at the University of Kent in Archaeology where he is studying the Roman occupation of Britain. This builds on a former career as a defence and aerospace journalist where he worked for titles including Jane s Defence Weekly and Flight International.
