De noodzaak van deze verhandeling -speciaal voor de niet-Arabisch sprekende lezers- kan niet worden overschat. Daarom besloot ik het te vertalen en het acceptabel te maken voor de Nederlandstalige (hier stond Engelstalige) lezer.Ik zou aandacht van de lezers willen vragen voor de volgende punten: 1) Ik gaf het boek de titel 'HET MOSLIM GELOOF' i.p.v. de titel van de auteur: 'AGIDAT AHL AS SUNNA WAL-JAMA'AH welke vertaald wordt als 'het geloof van de mensen van de Soenna en de Meerderheid.' Ik denk dat mijn voorkeur juist is vanwege: a) De titel die ik gekozen heb is korter. b) De twee titels betekenen bijna hetzelfde. c) De originele titel bevat een paar technische termen die niet alleen moeilijk te vertalen zijn, maar ook door vele lezers moeilijk te begrijpen zijn. d) De originele titel kan sommige lezers, die verkeerd ingelicht zijn over de ware bestemming van de woorden in de originele titel tegenwerken. I find this treatise on the Muslim faith a concise and useful presentation on a very important subject. The necessity of this treatise - especially for non-Arabic speaking readers - cannot be overestimated. That's why I decided to translate it and make it acceptable for the Dutch (here it said English) reader. I would like to draw readers' attention to the following points: 1) I titled the book 'THE MUSLIM BELIEF' instead of the author's title: 'AGIDAT AHL AS SUNNA WAL-JAMA'AH which translates as 'the faith of the people of the Sunnah and the Majority.' I think my preference is precisely because of: a) The title I chose is shorter. b) The two titles mean almost the same thing. c) The original title contains a few technical terms that are not only difficult to translate, but also difficult for many readers to understand. d) The original title may antagonize some readers who are misinformed about the true purpose of the words in the original title. 54 pp. Niederländisch.
