Synopsis
Ragged Trousered Philanthropists by Robert Tressell. The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists is a classic representation of the impoverished and politically powerless underclass of British society in Edwardian England, ruthlessly exploited by the institutionalized corruption of their employers and the civic and religious authorities. About the Author
Robert Noonan who wrote under the pen-name of Robert Tressel worked in different fields such as designing and decorating. He wrote different articles on current issues of the time. Later in his years of unemployment, he resumed his career as a writer.
